From SCNow.com :
Four people suffered shark bites in a 9-block stretch of ocean in Myrtle Beach on Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
A lifeguard said that the bites to people happened within 15 minutes of each other around 1:30 pm. The attack caused officials to close the beaches for about an 8-mile stretch.
All four injured people were taken to an area hospital, the lifeguard said. The bites happened to the 3 men and one woman in waters near 73rd, 74th, 78th and 82nd Avenues.
The injuries were mainly to the calves and ankles of those bitten and are not life threatening, but were very graphic in nature.
One person suffered a bite to the hand.
The ocean was cleared of swimmers from Apache Pier to the north to 14th Avenue in the south for about an hour.
Swimmers were then let back into the water.
Officials believe the attack came from a sandshark, but are not completely sure.
Authorities say they are unsure of how deep the victims were in the water when the attack happened.
The “sand shark” is the local name for the sandbar shark, which I’ve actually seen swimming in the surf at Myrtle Beach.
These attacks happened at about the same place at Myrtle Beach where my relatives have a villa.
So Willie better stay out of the damn water.

Yikes!
one of the 4 was my nephew, nasty bite on his foot!
I hope he’s doing okay.
That’s not what you expect to happen at that beach, which is so urbanized.
