This blog celebrates its fourth birthday today.
Four years ago, I had no idea that we would one day be bearing down on 3 million hits.
But we are!
The blog is now going stronger than ever. Right now, we’re getting an average of about 3,200 hits per day. Last year, we were averaging about a thousand less per day.
We stand to have over a million hits this year, but I’m not counting my eggs before they hatch.
I would not be able to do what I do without the support of all the readers and regular commentators.
Thank you for taking time to read what I post.
It might not always be the best stuff, but I know that I must do it.
This blog project has been the most significant exercise in personal growth I’ve ever undertaken.
To be able to write something like this requires a lot of introspection.
I have to consider what I think and how to best explain it to the reader.
And that is truly a challenge.
All good writing is a challenge, but I do the best I can.
I’m really experimenting, and my readers are my guinea pigs.
But at least you keep coming back.
And for that, I am truly grateful.

Hey Scottie, the growth has been a mutual experience. Yours is one of only two (the other deals with microbeers) blogs that I deem worthy of following.
(But your welcome anyway.)
Likewise very few blogs are hardly worth following. The ability to keep learning makes it a win for you and for your readers.
Congrats!
You remind me a bit of Mark Twain whose work I hope you have read. I think you have the markings of a great writer. Please keep practicing on us as we watch you grow into some pretty big footprints!
Thank you.
I don’t know if my footprints are that big…
But I’ll try to fill one of his toes.
Haha, don’t be so modest.
Congratulations on 4 years!
Kyuss and your blog share a birthday. =D
ditto what the others say.
I am hooked on your blog, your Philosophy of Dog and your writing. Keep up the good work. I am so glad you are going viral, so what you say reaches a lot of people.
Alone or maybe with a couple of others, you can change the hoary edifices of the AKC, The SPCA, the HSUS, PETA and all those other lettered institutions by removing their masks- and perhaps, with Christopher, get dog breeders to learn population genetics and the plasticity of speciation, in order to replenish the entire dog genome into some highly attenuated bloodlines.
Or maybe I am just dreaming…..
You’re dreaming.
If the proposed APHIS rule is adopted as written, you can kiss any serious breeding in the US goodbye. There will not be any future opportunities to “change the hoary edifices of the AKC, The SPCA, the HSUS, PETA and all those other lettered institutions by removing their masks- and perhaps, with Christopher, get dog breeders to learn population genetics and the plasticity of speciation, in order to replenish the entire dog genome into some highly attenuated bloodlines.”
Happy birthday, blog!
Congrats on the four years! That’s a while. I really appreciate it, I love this blog.
Hey congratulations, that’s almost 30 in dog-years and like 20 million in dog-hits!
Congrats on 4 years and thank you for your efforts in trying to maintain and improve these beautiful breeds..
Congratulations. Thanks for the history and for all the natural wonders. Without this blog I would not know that a lot of these things even existed!
great blog! congratulations for your work!
