This is the same story that John Vaillant recounts in The Tiger, but this documentary plays up the role of Trush’s laika a lot more. Warning: lots of gory images in this film, including human remains.
This is my all-time favorite wildlife story. It’s like Jaws met No Country for Old Men, and it’s a true story!
I recommend both the book and documentary as well. Each had certain bits the other didn’t and thus they complimented each other well. The book for instance went into more detail on the eponymous tiger’s behavior and the sheer lengths it went to to get at Markov. It actually made me want to visit the region where the story took place. However I’m terrified of getting on a plane.
