I think he found out they had single-payer down there, so he decided against it.

unions were beaten, harassed + shoved-around – then they got strong, and began shoving other ppl around, including fellow employees. :—(
a good friend of mine was a union-rep, and was nearly shot during negotiations in Phila, Penna. of course, they never found out who did it…

she once led an army of women against the Pinkerton thugs during a mine-strike, armed with mops + brooms – to prevent them starting a fight that would start with lead-pipes and brass-knuckles, and end with bullets and cops braining ppl with night-sticks.
unions can only do so much; human spirits are not infinite, either – big, yes, but not infinite.
