   Could be a Saint Bernard–the English strains had/have a lot of white on them.

    I think it is an “Alpine Mastiff” .
    In the Alps untill about one hundreds one could still find some L.G.D.s .
    In that time the wolf population was nearly eradicated so the usefullness of such type of dogs was nearly ended.
    (That is why today with the wolf coming back in the Alps,alpine livestock producer do not have acces to local LGD populations but have to buy working LGDs from Apenines , Pyrenees ,Balkans or Carphatians)
    Live stock people crossed some of the remanents of that landrace of LGD with their herding dogs and the showdog people used the other part of the remanents of that landrace of LGD to establish the “improved”Saint Bernard.
    The crossed stockdogs(LGD x herding dogs) were also somehow used in establishing the bigger swiss sennenhunden (Bernese and Great Suisse).
    Well that it’s just my guess.

    Looks like a (running) hunting dog, from the short hair, long legs, long ears, big feet. Some sort of coonhound.
