   Until I first encountered American creationists about ten years ago I had thought our species was very intelligent. Now I know there are a large group that consider intelligence to be the work of the devil so they avoid it like the plague.

     Yep, and as an American (and a thinking being), this kind of utter bullpuckey scares the hell out of me! It seems to be a twisted sort of existentialism, perhaps borrowed from the Wizard of Oz? (i.e., click your heels 3 times and wish really hard and evolution, dinosaurs and genetics will go away.) This is a classic case of willful ignorance.

   I checked the date and yes it was 21st April, not 1st of that month. Obviously the poster of this piece is having a laugh, either that or he/she is making use of their care home’s computer.

     At one time, I would have thought these sorts of comments were all parodies.

     You have no idea how many people think things that are very similar to this, so the optimist in me hopes that it is joke.

   If the young lady in the video thinks all religeon is based upon a myth then I heartily agree with her, but I also think that maybe she doth protest too much and her massive reliance on the F word exposes a slight lack of vocabulary.

   I think it’s almost certainly not a joke or parody. Believe it or not, there are many, many people – even college-educated people who should know better – who believe exactly this. I attend a Baptist church with my grandmother, and they actually preach sermons with similar concepts. At least once every few weeks something like this is mentioned. Some of these people are high-school and college teachers. It boggles the mind.
