I love that tongue! How sweet!
My first Golden often slept curled up with the snow right over him, just like the Arctic sled dogs –even though he had a warm kennel house to go into. He had the same dense undercoat and water-repellent topcoat that many of the “mountain dogs” do. And which once was common in Goldens.
She definitely has that type of coat, and her predecessor used to break ice to swim all the time.
I love golden retrievers and find it a pity I have no space for it at my my place. I must be pleased with my Shetland collie and have friendly contacts with other retrievers when I do my walks.
