I never thought of anyone doing this with a golden retriever, but I guess you can do it with any large, athletic dog.
If I did this, it would be the surest way to fall flat on my face and then be dragged several miles through the brush.

Looks like fun
I’ve noticed my comments vanish.. Did I need an invite to comment? If so,I’m sorry for my lack of manners
There is a Vallhund owner in Finland who does it with her dog.

I do bikejoring with Mika all the time. I think if you’re good at skiing, it’s not a problem, but I’d probably be in the same boat. It is, however, a BLAST if you can do it right.
I could have used a dog like that when I was skiing in Russia.
Haha go to 2:45min: Is he possibly about to fall in the creek? Or am I just imagining him panicking and then the scene is cut coincidently? ;-)
My Golden Retriever Ben finally got to do skijoring this whttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZ1lyoLjBvM&feature=youtube_gdata_playerinter and he absolutely loves it as you can see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPKzGz_q2Vo .
We don’t get much snow where I live so I had to train with him on dry land first canicross, bikejoring and skijoring on rollerskis but snow is the best if only because the falls are softer ;-) I do recommend starting on fairly flat ground though… things can get really interesting in a hurry even there. Here is another video of us going over a hill, first half a mile is uphill and the next half mile is down hill so you can get some idea how exciting things can get: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSl25vVzH2w.
And sometimes everything just turns out simply beautiful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZ1lyoLjBvM
Tried it with the shih tzus – can’t understand why it didn’t work as they are very “athletic”. England covered in snow for days and this morning – black ice as a bonus!
Tried it with my two in the wonderful blighty snow. I invented two new sports. Canifuming with the Bearcoat (involves screaming “stop ****ing pulling you little sh*t!” as I slip on patches of ice disguised under yesterday’s light dusting of fresh snow).
And Faceplantjoring with the Tibetan Mastiff (he does it for fun and I do it by accidentally sliding off the edge of the path).
When Sammie was still alive, he too did a very good job of pulling a one-man sleigh (me). Fortunately for me, as much as he loved to run in it, he enjoyed stopping to eat it even more.
The TM loves eating snow as well as diving/rolling in it like a joyful polar bear. He’s most put out this morning to find that most of it has melted and the snow that’s left has an icy crust that is rubbish for rolling in or getting your teeth into. The bearcoat is in lunatic mode whatever the weather.
