Almost a month old, and the ducklings are starting to get adult feathers.

Are they hewing to the standard mallard patters or showing variation?

  Three are standard mallards. One is going to look like either Phil or Phil’s sister (who I am calling Jemima Puddle-Duck because she cannot stay on a nest).

It seems that mallard crossed with meat breed are being sold at our local Tesco supermarket. We had it tonight. Bit tough but tasty with hoisin sauce.

  Probably Rouen. They look like mallards but are bigger than Pekins.
