    Is it me or did they change Hachi’s whole story? In the original, we got to see him being born, and in this version we don’t know where he came from…is it that different?

As an akita owner involved in rescue I am SO conflicted!

Yes it is a beautiful story and it looks like they did a great job on it. I just dread the potential rescue fall out of it all. Beautiful dog of a breed that isn’t for everyone in a movie is always cue for morons to back yard breed some to make a quick buck. Then akita rescue get fuller (they are already full with akitas, just check any of them) http://www.akitarescuewny.com

  I worry a lot whenever these films come out.
  
  I know an Akita Inu who belongs to the right owner. He’s a good dog, but for the casually owner, he would be a devil. He’s a good natured dog, but he dislikes other male dogs.
