   how tall at the shoulder?

   how long nose to tail?

   the skull is long and too narrow for a housecat; the claws are not retractile.
   the tail is 2/3 the body-length and has bony-prominences for more than half its length.
   their only function IMO would be for prehensile strength – so unless the scale of the animal
   is radically larger than my guess, i am going to suggest Opossum.

   if i could get a better look at the teeth, it would help…

   The way it’s been posed with the tail up makes me think Coatimundi–definetely a small carnivore type…..

   I thought Coatimundi at first too, but the head is wrong, so I was thinking some kind of mustelid, but I don’t know.

       I’m guessing here but perhaps a chinese masked palm or a Himalayan Civet. I’m no expert on Civets.

   Looks like a skunk and I’d guess Mephitus. The preparator got the posture right, which is a give away. Not to mention the claws on the forefeet.

   Man, I can’t believe I didn’t guess skunk, especially since I once had all too intimate contact with what comes from under that raised tail!
