Daria is coming out on DVD this Tuesday.
Yes. I’m really showing my age here.
I believe that this is the only show on MTV that I watched when I was in high school.
I think I remember signing a petition for them to be released to DVD when I was in undergrad.
I hated when they put this on Noggin, and anything on the episodes that was a bit unsuitable for middle schoolers was censored.
That means virtually all of the “Sick, Sad World” bits were never shown on Noggin.
I believe I’ve seen every episode– including both “movies.”
I don’t know why I related to this show so well, other than Daria’s position in the high school hierarchy was exactly the same as mine. I don’t think I was ever as misanthropic as Daria, but I was pretty close.
But then I went to college, and I was fine.
Oh MTV, how the mighty have fallen.
It really sucked being Daria when I wanted so badly to be Jane Lane.
The only time it sucked being Jane is when her whole family moved back in and the episode(s) where Daria stole her boyfriend.
The male versions of Daria don’t have Janes as their friends.
Mine were all percussionists in the marching band.
