The tick season is marginally picking up here. I’ve found two or three on me already. It’s nothing like it was last year, when the blasted things would almost swarm you every time you stepped out into the tall grass.
I wish they made a once-a-month spot-on medication for people, but I guess I’ll just have to pick them off.
Of course, I can’t mention ticks and West Virginia without embedding this video. And yes, I know it’s a repost from last year.

Our neighbor bought guinea hens that now roam the neighborhood eating ticks. They must really like ticks!
We haven’t had a tick problem since the guineas came, other than getting used to their squwaks and to the laughing of our guests. Our lab/ spaniel X has learned to let them be — I think their squwaks hurt his ears.
Our neighbor has them, but we have a kind of tick explosion.
However, I’d rather have the ticks than put up with the guineas.
The guineas went after this dog in a loud squawking phalanx, and she also learned to leave them be.
i’m convinced that the chemicals we use make them stronger.
what are the natural predators of the tick?
Guinea fowl.
But I’d rather have the ticks than those blasted things.
Brad Paisley makes me smile.
Ticks do not.
Once a month applications don’t work on humans because we are not hairy enough. The chemical cannot travel efficiently from follicle to follicle.
I hate ticks. Hate them.
Hairlessness is a good defense against ectoparasites anyway.
I should be doing the chat room tonight, but I have no use for it.
