Do they get along well with little dogs about Willie’s size? How would they be with visiting human toddlers?
I think bigfoot would make a better pet.
Why bigfoot wouldn’t be such a good pet:
Ferrets and lizards don’t mix. One time my ferret got loose, and he ended up killing the tegu, but to be fair, the tegu was a juvenile… Now if it was a full-grown 10 to 15-pounds tegu with a 5-pounds ferret, I wouldn’t know what the outcome will be. The dogs never gave a damn about the tegu and often they would lay besides each others.
The only problem I see with owning a monitor lizard is the hypercarnivore diet and are heavily food-orientated, but again, cats are hypercarnivores as well. The latter? It seems like lots of people buy monitor lizards, then end up being abandoned after their owners end up to the ER for stitches, or worse surgery to reattach ligaments and tendons, because the lizards associated people’s hands with food.
