I don’t technically exist.
Many of the big name blogs in my area of expertise don’t promote me on their blogrolls.
But I still managed to become number 1 on Technorati’s Pets Blogs.
It is nothing more than a score of how many other blogs rank to me.
It is not something I check every day.
This time last week, I couldn’t tell you what my ranking even was.
I have always been much more interested in getting hits. I consider that a more important measure.
I am way off from my 4,000 hits per day that I had in the winter and early spring of this year.
For various reasons, my blogging wasn’t as regular or as high quality this summer as I would like it.
I am certain the only reason why I am able to do what I do with this blog is because I take it seriously.
To even have a half-way decent writing style, I’ve had to work at– developing it as a craft so that everything I write is a bit more understandable.
It’s never where I want it.
I get here only by the continuous effort on my part and the generosity of some of my readers to link to my scribblings on their blogs.
I know that my current success is fleeting.
I was always taught that the sun doesn’t shine in the same dog’s asshole every day.
The sun is shining here today.
And I’ll enjoy it for now.

Congratulations Scotty! You have a really good blog. I enjoy reading it. I love dogs, but I have a hard time finding dog blogs that are intelligent and nice.
So many blogs are just about showing one breed of dog, when I don’t have that same breed and I don’t show, the blog is not my cup of tea.
And I love nature. Nature lovers aren’t as divided as dog lovers, are they?
I love your blog, and I could care less if “big name blogs” acknowledge it or not. If I had a blog(I don’t even own a computer! All my pecking is done between chores on the work computer!!!) I would link you to the world! You hit on so many subjects I find fun and interesting, and which I can use as a healthy, non-litigational(?) way to vent that I otherwise would not have. I have wandered about on the internet and checked out many blogs, but this is one of the few I keep coming back to–hopefully I have not made too much of a nuisance of myself in the commentaries……
You aren’t a nuisance at all.
It always seems that the ones who like the blog most and have the most to contribute feel like nuisances.
Not at all.
I welcome close reading and regular commentary and discussion!
I am not a nuisance. A bitch, but not a nuisance.
