I don’t know that many quail, but it that a bobwhite?
Looks like a California X Bobwhite.
Losech, what can you tell me about the dog pictiured as your Avatar? Is it a dingo or dingo-cross?
Nah, it’s a Shiba Inu. Small hunting breed native to Japan. He is usually mistaken for a fox, so I appreciate the Dingo comment!

I’m thrown off by the black bib below the beak,. I’m gonna say a variety or hybrid of California Quail.
Ah, I can see it now. My neighbor has 2 (the male tries to intimidate my St. Bernard.) Funny, I always see the SI’s as miniature Akita’s not foxes.
