My roots are deep within the Unexplored Territories, where there are no major four-lane highways. I suggest another name for it–“West Virginia’s Gasland.” Lots of Marcellus Shale drilling is going on.

I should make two little corrections:
There are some miles of four-lane highway in the Unexplored Territories. US 50 is a four-lane in Ritchie and Doddridge Counties, and Gilmer Count has about a quarter mile of I-79 running through it. I used to joke that this small bit of interstate gave the impression to outsiders that Gilmer County was the smallest county in West Virginia.

Kinda reminds me of the map of FL in Piers Anthony’s Xanth novels.
There is awesome rafting in your state. However, I will be kayaking in at least one river when my son gets to that level of providing a good company for such adventures like this.
Also, if I recall correctly, WV used to have toughest laws against drunk driving in the 80s.
And I recall the tough laws were made during the reign of Jay Rockefeller.
Pity the operation on that middle finger went wrong – if only you had a national health service…
