   It’s always so great to hear from people who are walking, talking, breathing representatives of our history! He shows what people really valued in a dog when they had no more worries than watching the family, friends, and one’s own business. Although I would not have blamed this guy’s childhood dog if he HAD bitten him for cutting his ears. Whoops! Poor sweet pooch.

   He reminds of my late father-in-law who grew up in the Shenandoah valley are of rural VA. Those memories and oral histories are priceless.

   The Grandson tries to say they were used to hunt wild boar, but the Grandfather does not agree with this statement. This fellow has become a real thorn in explainning WEB as the Shepherd’s Mastiff. While many breeds can be used to hunt wild boar, the main use of the Farm Bulldog is just like a Farm Collie – except it can really fight preditors – including coyotes, wilddogs, wolves, wild cat, and bear to defend the farm and the livestock.
