   I’m guessing that she meant, “The lobster is the only animal that arrives in the kitchen still living.” Not only does her statement show a lack of understanding about animals and food production, it also demonstrates how badly the education system in this country is failing its clients, both in Science and Language Arts.

     Don’t put all the blame on the educational system. It’s the same system that produces scientists, doctors, lawyers, etc.– as well as Snookis and real housewives. Education begins in the home. Blame the parents.

       That’s precisely the problem with the American education system. it produces highly qualified persons to become educational elites at the expenses of sacrificing quality of education for the masses.

       There wouldn’t be Snookis if every school receives the same funding and quality of educators.

         There is a large culture in the USA and UK of taking pride in being genuinely stupid, ignorant of basic knowledge and wanting to be famous for being famous. As well as education systems and parents, a large burden of the blame lies with the media. They glorify the “dumb as a box of rocks” in reality car crash TV shows as it’s cheap to make. It seeps into every corner as the internet and printed media are packed full of stories about these vain idiots. Kids see this as the norm as they see not much else in popular culture.

       I don’t watch that kind of tv,but the silly person seems to be everywhere. Her and Honey Boo-Boo. No matter what I’m watching there’s an ad for their shows..

       Tragically, far more people would have to have it explained to them who Carl Sagan was. I grew up with him as a childhood hero of mine rather than the cast of Jersey effing Shore.
