There is a very popular gardening programme on Friday evenings here where the presenter is followed around by his faithful golden retriever just appearing a few times in the background. Anyway the dog disappeared from the programme, at first without any explanation – and then the emails and tweets came in by the thousand asking where he had gone. It transpired that everyone loved him and the viewing figures had soared from gardeners and non gardeners alike. So all the subsequent programmes started with the latest report on how the dog was getting along recovering from his op. Then he reappeared fit again and now doing various new tricks!
