Isn’t it amazing how green and lush everything is this year. Normally the end of summer vegetation looks pretty beat up about now.
How are the ticks and chiggers in your part of the world?
Cold winter meant that ticks were much less severe this year. We don’t have a lot of chiggers normally.
Had no idea what a ‘chigger’ was and so looked it up !! Thank goodness we don’t have them here.
By the way what about snakes, such long grass, or don’t you have any ?
We have two species of venomous snake, but both are quite uncommon. One, the copperhead (which is viper related to the water moccasin or cottonmouth), is much more common near outbuildings and sheds than in the woods. The other, the timber rattlesnake, is quite rare, and unknown in this particular stretch of woods.
Totally envious. I see long grass like that and there is no way i or my dogs would walk through it. Unfortunately we have the Common Eastern Brown Snake (the second most venomous snake in the world) and also the Tiger Snake (ranks about 5th most venomous in the world) in the bush where i live.
To be fair, that grass is Japanese stilt grass, a nasty invasive species, which could be responsible for destroying our Eastern forests.
That stilt grass is horrible! I haven’t been physically able to take care of my place of late and it is everywhere.
