   I must admit, I was truly surprised by my top 5 recs:
   Mastiff
   Bullmastiff
   Ibizan Hound
   Tibetan Mastiff
   Chinese Crested

   My top 20 includes: Azawakh (must google), French Bulldog (one of those coveted breeds for me), Pitbull (ha – I’ll prolly end up with one sooner or later) and Chihuahua (I have a Chi mix now and love her dearly but not so keen on getting another after she dies).

   I’m a retriever-woman!
   1. Golden Retriever — got one, want another in a couple years
   2. Labrador Retriever — got a Lab mix
   3. Flat-coated Retriever — want one some day — from a long-lived line!
   4. Australian Cattle Dog — huh?? — my sheep would not appreciate this!
   5. Dalmatian — had a bilaterally deaf one as a child, very smart, loved her. Didn’t have a good immune system. But I’d get one from the Pointer Backcross Project.

   So that’s on target except for the ACD.

   Then we get Goldador, GSP, IWS, Viszla, Weimarener, B & R Coonhound, & onto the Doodles.

   I have an English Setter/English Pointer/whatsit mix. EP comes in at 20. I like GSPs but I grew up with EPs & I’d prefer EPs. ES comes in at 87. Huh?

   The other dogs I’ve considered owning some day: English Springer Spaniel #18,
   Chessie #21, Field Spaniel, Duck Toller#23,, Boykin #38, Brittany #47,Welsh springer Spaniel # 52,Gordon Setter #71, Irish Red & White Setter #74, Small Munsterlander #85, Clumber Spaniel

   So if any of these don’t come in a field type, please warn me, as you did with
   the Sussex, #13 on my list!

   Did anyone see the Large Munsterlander on the list!

   The only herding dogs I’d like would be English Shepherds or Border Collies, but they are much too smart for me.
   And why on earth would the Kuvasz & the Sibe be in my top 30!

   Under not recommended for me were a few dogs I know & actually like: the Irish Wolfhound & the Bichon (a little muscle-y dog good for hiking, just hard to housetrain), and the Schipperke, an independent sort of dog. However, I could never tolerate a Shih Tzu. My best friend’s ST loathes me.

   Oh, I also wouldn’t mind to keep some sort of hound because I love their voices. When my dad was young, he had a pack of Blueticks, Plotts, & Redbones, as well as English Pointers. He taught me to appreciated that baying.

   Flattie-n-Labbie: they didn’t ask us about field type, so they don’t know what they are talking about.

   The problem with these sort of these tests is that they’re not weighted. What we want most is not valued any higher that things we don’t care about.

   Additionally, perhaps I want in my dog is my ‘better self:” a dog more friendly, so I’ll be more friendly, a dog more social than I, a dog that I have to get off the couch & pull my nose out of a book to exercise & train.

   What IS it with the Sussex Spaniel? I got that as my first choice, too. What’s worse, it says:

   “Beware! This medium-size spaniel will outsmart you, test your patience, embarrass you, love you, and make you laugh.”

   What? The Border Collies decided to have a good laugh and switched their characteristics with the Sussex Spaniel — especially since I couldn’t find Border Collies on the list at all!

   2. Whippet (okay, I guess — several horse people around here have them and they seem to be nice dogs)

   3. Australian Cattle Dog (Absolutely not. It is hard enough having a maybe Border Collie, maybe English Shepherd with some Shiba Inu thrown in — I’m not even taking on an ACD!)

   4. English Springer Spaniel (I have some CSA friends who are happy with this breed)

   5. English Cocker Spaniel (My husband does dread the day that anything happens to his best human friend because that means we’d have to take in his wife’s dog Roxie, who thinks the world begins and ends with Pepper — and that means my husband would have to go on his marathon training runs with a svelte BC?ES?SI and a fluffy little Cockapoo because Roxie loves to do anything that Pepper does and she throws little hissy fits if she can’t go running, too.)

   The survey needed an entry for those who take their dog to work with them — I think it would have bumped the herding dogs up in my rating and HOPEFULLY have wiped the Sussex Spaniel off the page!
