Their buyer’s warranty is a bit harsh, imo. You’d have to euthanize or return a dog with any genetic defect in order to get reimbursement?

I’d think any owner who’d be willing to return perhaps a 1 or 2 year old dog they’d invested months of work and feelings into would be on the losing end of that stipulation. What if they wanted to keep and treat the dog (hip surgery for example), but want some return of the puppy cost in order to defray the bills? There is no option for that in the contract — it’s only ‘euthanize or return for a future replacement’. I’ve even seen -toy breed- contracts with similar wording. I always wonder what the breeders are planning to do with any blind/dysplastic/etc dog they get back.

It may be an unfair judgment, but I always get a bad vibe when I read warranties like that. It just sounds heartless, even if that’s unintentional.

  I think that type of contract is pretty common in working dogs.
