I am in Munich.
I went out on the streets around the Marienplatz today. Dogs everywhere.
I saw a lovely dark, moderately (and correctly) built golden today. It was quite dark, but had the neatest light shadings I’ve seen on a golden.
I also saw a long-haired vizsla (one with the faulty setter coat) and a German spaniel (Watchelhund).
German shepherds are here in droves.
And undocked Jack Russell and wire fox terriers.
If you see any interesting dog collars, please take pictures for me!! Take pictures of dogs too. :)
I don’t know if I can take photos in that museum.
However, I have seen tons of dogs. The only mid-European breeds Ive seen, though, are German shepherds, a few vizslas, and a Wachtelhund. I have not seen a single Drahthaar yet, but I haven’t been out for very long.
Maybe you’ll see a brindle Saluki, there are some in Germany.

Dunno about Munich, but if you go to Berlin, you may see lots of well-behaved & loved dogs walking there un-leashed.

I meant to ask, why are you hanging out in my people’s neck of the woods? The Isar river was our personal toilet all those years ago. Although I guess Munich is upstream.
I guess Northern Germany is sort of boring though, compared with all the crazy culture in the South.
This is a family vacation. When on business, my uncle has traveled through Munich on his way to Romania or Poland, and he thought it would be a good place to visit.
Today, I went on a tour of historical Third Reich places in the city.
I was in the place where the Munich Agreement was negotiated, screwing Czechoslovakia. I was also in the beer hall where Hitler gave his first major speech. They don’t hide anything. They just keep certain symbols from be shown, but the actual history is open and honest.
So, what do all those GSD’s look like in Germany? Are they crippled, slant-backed, boomerang-hocked caricatures like American/British show GSD’s, or less exagerrated and more functional looking? I’m always hoping there are reservoirs of the breed left that aren’t so screwed up physically, that can be used to ressurect the breed in the U. S.–if and when American GSD breeders FINALLY wake up and see the truth regarding their breeds’ conformation…..
I saw one that had a sloping black, but it wasn’t as severe as the UK show dogs.
The Frauleins say I am docked, but very intact, very well intact.
North may be boring, but the dog culture is different enough.
Or at least it WAS for a couple of years ago.
At least in Berlin, you can take your dog to the nice, big green parks and let free. No fences. Strange kids and adults may play with you along.
There are cafes and , were you can take your dog with. One is Café Retro, it’s in a nice suburban called Schöneberg.
Dunno if it’s there anymore, but at least a year ago it was there.
Dunno, but the new breed laws may have altered the situation there also.
