Joachim von Sandrart's depiction of a German hunter wearing a fur hat in the seventeenth century. This painting is on display in Munich.
I have a new ushanka. It was purchased in Munich as a Christmas present from my uncle (Willie’s dad).
It is made of mink fur.
And I love it.
I guess I am one Democrat who won’t be getting awards from PETA.

My uncle has one and he loves it. We call him Comrade.
The are pretty common in Bavaria actually.
And I don’t think the most conservative state in Germany is all that much like the commies.
Looks like an acorn top with that thing sticking up in the middle. An arm or paw, maybe? Poor mink.
Those are the leather strings that tie the ear flaps together.

I have always had one in the winter.
My cousin has one made of blue (arctic) fox fur.
Hope you’ll have plenty of cold winters that u can wear that jailed-mink hat.
The hat in the painting is not of mink, actually it looks reddish hare. The boy has hunted and maybe also made it by his own hands.
