Those spaniels can clearly work, but they are really heavy headed and coarse. Look at how much more snipey the a lot of the recent american FTCHs look:

I didn’t think of that, but it’s very possible that at least one of these dogs is a “Clocker.”
However, the original English cockers were short-legged and long-backed dogs. In fact, despite all the crowing about Clumbers being from France, the truth is they are very representative of the large land spaniel type that was common in England from at least the seventeenth century.
