   If only Romney had got Tom Cruise on side before the scientologists did… If Obama starts talks with North Korea, you’ll know why. The red dude is after unicorns again.

   I always have to wonder whether the average Christian realizes that in Biblical context, Satan is portrayed as a beautiful creature? According to English translations of the Bible, “Satan was lifted up because of his beauty…” (Ezekiel); an “…anointed cherub…” (Ezekiel); “…an Angel of Light…” (Corinthians). (The name Lucifer actually translates as Carrier of the Light.)

   To be fair he was also depicted as a serpent in Genesis and likened to a dragon in Revelations. (I wouldn’t be surprised to find that the original Semitic and or Greek root words for serpent and dragon are one and the same.) But the point is moot as, depending upon the beholder, snakes and dragons are often perceived as being beautiful too.

   The whole goat schtick was a ploy by the early church to literally demonize the pre-Christian deity Pan. Thus this photo is even more ridiculous than it would first appear.
