As the eggs are fertilized, they are deposited on the female’s back, where they become embedded.
The eggs form small holes on the back of the female. When they hatch, the tadpoles remain in those holes on her back. They go through the entire tadpole stage on their mother’s back. When they eventually metamorphose into small toads– well, this is what happens:
