I can’t imagine keeping one of these in a subtropical climate. That likely causes a lot of shedding and makes the matting problem worse.
I should note that I’ve always called these animal “Canada lynx” for a reason.
I was corrected when I was really young for calling Canada geese “Canadian geese.”
I was told that we call them Canada geese because they are found in both the US and Canada. It is not accurate to call them “Canadian,” because they actually might be from the US.
Well, this lynx is found in both the US and Canada.
So I just use the same rule.
