I think we should play the national anthem of Canada to celebrate:
I hope everyone is celebrating in Toronto, the nation’s capital.
NB: Not intended to be offensive. Just a little joke on the ignorance of many Americans about the rest of the world, including countries that border upon the US.

It’s like Albany, only cleaner.
I can’t believe you had to edit. I would had just highlight the “Toronto, the nation’s capital” with a link on Youtube of the RCMP scene in Canadian Bacon.

‘Thank you for sleeping so quietly. I love you… even though you’re a criminal. Thank you for keeping your cell clean. I… miss you.’ Welcome to Canada.
Hold it right there, Canuck.
Who are you?
I’m your worst nightmare. I’m a citizen with a constitutional right to bear arms. Heh heh heh!
Take the pelts. Take whatever you want.
We don’t want your stinking pelts.
Have some fudge. Just leave me alone.
Didn’t you hear him? We’re your worst nightmare.
My worst nightmare involved a pack of rabid wolves.I was stuck somewhere in the Yukon, and there were tall, skinny rabbits, and they were drinking heavily.
Just shut up! We want your prisoner. Where is she?
I don’t know what you’re talking aboot, eh.
‘Aboot?’ it’s ‘about!’ What we’re talking about! And enough of that ‘eh’ business. Learn to talk right, understand? We got ways for you pronounce the letter ‘o.’ I want my Honey! Now, get the keys for the cells now. Now! Easy. Easy. O.k., Mr. Canuck, Mr. two-time world series winner. Hey, watch that fancy move!
See, this is all the prisoners we have. This man was arrested for putting regular gas into an unleaded tank.
Where do you think you’re going?
I’m going over to show you the next guy.
Easy. One step at a time.
This man was arrested for being in too many bad moods.
I got you covered. I got you covered. I got you covered, buddy.
This man raided a company, merged it with his conglomerate, and then fired all the employees.
Get away from the bars, you scum! Boomer! Hold on, Jack. Now, you tell us where Honey is. Let me paint a picture for you, buddy. She’s petite,
extremely beautiful, and heavily armed.
Wait. You mean the litterbug. They took her to the capital to give her a free mental health examination.
Good. The capital, Toronto.
No. The capital of Canada is Ottawa.
Ha ha ha! Yeah, right. Do we look that stupid? Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha! Ottawa! Ha ha ha! Nice try, Dudley. All right, boys! We’re going to Toronto… Ha ha ha! The capital.
Do you want some water?
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Too bad.
Toronto?
Isn’t that in Spain?
Canada, the land of wonderful dog parks, well-mannered dogs, and shops that let dogs in. Oh, how I love it there. When visiting and walking the dog I’ll often pop my head into a shop and ask if the dog is allowed in. I always receive a cheery, “of course!” in reply, with a look that purely states “why wouldn’t we?” Often the employees pull out a bag of treats, or I find a water bowl in a corner or dog toys strewn about. Yes, I have walked into multiple book, clothing, etc. stores that have dog toys on the floor for visiting pups!
That is true.
Some of my friends have visited or live there.
In many towns, dogs are allowed to roam freely – just like about 100 years ago in Britain, or 60 years ago in Finland.
Long live the freedom, dogs and Canada!
Not “many towns.” It’s only out in the rural areas they are allowed to be off-the-leash. Even then, in many places, they are not really allowed to roam, and must be within a certain distance from their owners.
My friend visited last year in a town near Vancover, and he told the dogs went (even alone) in the supermarket.
Guess Canada is big enough to have plenty of small towns for the dogs to roam.
You are grossly overestimating Canada’s population size and geographical distribution. More than half of Canada’s population lives in urban centres with strict leash laws.
Those cities are all close to the US border, too.
The only explanation is you guys are planning to invade.
Alas, the Finns won’t sell us their konehirv to us. For now, the plan has been delayed another three years until we can get a contract.
I didn’t necessarily mean that “free” dogs are let alone to pass a day out in the streets or so.
Freedom is a very relational term.
But I surely hate it when nut-headed hairless monkeys keep yelling at me and my “free” dog when we walk together (radius < 1 meter).
Also, I hate it when visiting a shop, a guardian comes to us just for to throw us out, because it is not for the dogs.
It is ridiculous for Finnish dogs are probably the best cared / fed / combed / vaxined / taught in the world.
The Canadian tolerance must be something else.
That's great.
