Yeah, I have to wonder what ‘kind” this little critter is?
They just made it onto the threatened species in my state (Queensland) and our dodgy premier Campbell Newman described the commonwealth listing/protection as “More Green tape”. Same politician called them “Bears” on television which in Australia is a big no no :) We rarely see them in north Queensland though I was amazed to hear of one being seen at Chillagoe near a mine where I worked…very dry arid country.
Well, I’m glad people are taking conserving these animals seriously.
I honestly don’t find them cute. I think they are bizarre.
The most bizarre thing about them is they had a rapid reduction in brain size in order to be able to live on eucalyptus leafs. It was so rapid the cranium hasn’t had a chance to evolve to fit this smaller brain.
The brother of this guy was put on my PC as a screen saver – by our grandson. We saw a mum and baby at a reptile park in NSW. It’s what we fall for, us humans, what’s it called – anthropomorphic, did I even spell that correctly? Anyway Russell above will appreciate the “pom” syllable in that word.
It’s we who are “bizarre” ,retrieverman and before you say it I know – speak for myself only in that regard.
