These mole hills were most likely put up by a hairy-tailed or Brewer’s mole. It’s a pretty little silver-colored mole that one of my dogs used to kill whenever she had a chance.

Don’t get me started on that subject. They love the soft tilth of my gardens–which is no big deal in itself. But the voles follow in their wake and do so much damage that I’ve had to install root cages for my cold frame, tomatoes, potatoes and sweet potatoes.
Saya my shiba has been trying to get herself a mole for long time. I see those mounds in few areas and some tunnels. Most tunnels are in the trails in the field..
My neighbor’s golden retriever used to dig the moles up he was a expert on it compared to Saya she still hasn’t gotten one.
Sadly the neighbor’s retriever passed on from old age he was pretty old and after a bit went down hill.
Such a sweet dog too bad Saya wasn’t around when he was maybe he could have taught her the art of hunting for moles. hehe
