Did she eat the duck or just maul it and leave the carcass?
Just mauled it.
What a waste. Kali would love a fresh duck carcass.
I myself would have loved a fresh duck carcass. Poor duck. But such is the way of predation.
Very different from my Kuvasz boy. He goes after squirrels, rabbits, geese and ducks all the time, but after cornering them, doesn’t know what to do with them and I like it that way.
My Tibetan Mastiff has his own tame bunnies, so all he wants to do is be friends with the wild ones rather than chase them. Squirrels and foxes on the other hand are fair game. Anything else is safe. He has a habit of finding fledgeling birds and he lies down rather than taking the opportunity of a quick snack. The bearcoat is his opposite. She may look like one of Steiff’s finest, but her hunting instincts are very much intact.
LOL. This could be their livestock guardian instincts kicking in.
True. I think it’s their innate curiosity of anything that moves that they consider to be on their territory rather than a chase to kill. I don’t suppose any LGD breed would be much use if they killed indiscriminately or left their flock to chase anything but predators.
