How to live with introverts

I am an introvert, so I thought I’d share this bit of advice for dealing with our kind:

I think there needs to be another one of these drawn on how to live with a person with a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator of INTJ.

I have always been one.

     Yes, but the introvert vs. extrovert description certainly fits a lot of people. I’m very clearly introverted.

   Cute, and very true! Especially the limited energy part. I think a lot of people misunderstand that and think introverted people don’t like them, when it may be just the opposite.

     People often mistake introverts for being arrogant or blowing hot and cold. But once you get you know us, we’re nothing of the sort. We can even be gregarious and fun as long as we have the mental energy for it. We’re not ones for wearing our metaphorical hearts on our sleeves like extroverts do, though.

     The biggest problem I have as an introvert is that all my friends are extroverts. I swear extroverts are subconsciously attracted to introverts like we’re the opposite poles of a magnet. I wonder if that’s why the introverts here at least are in part attracted to having such a sociable species in our lives? I know I engage with people I’d pass by were it not for me being out and about with the dogs.

   What does this have to do with dogs pr wildlife? Are introverts more likely to have dogs? Or doesn’t it male a difference whether on is introverted or extroverted? I’m something of a loner, but I interact with my dogs all the time. We actually have “conversations.” about things that concern them. For instance, if my husband fails to give them a treat they deserve, they’ll seek me out, stiff-legged with anger & by the expressions in their eyes, I can see they’re perturbed. As soon as I stand up, they run towards the kitchen, standing by the cupboard where the treats are.

     The right kind of dog is a perfect companion for the introverted (see the list headed “Remember” in the article above), willing to go with the flow, so to speak. My dogs are always willing to participate in whatever activities I may initiate, and they also have an “off button” for downtimes. And they don’t question or nag.
