This is the supposed chupacabras.
Another hairless coyote chupacabras has been found.
And we have a body– and it’s at the taxidermist’s shop!
It weighs 35 pounds, which means we have a typical dog coyote from Texas.
And it amazes me that no one in that article said it was a coyote. It’s a coyote. Coyotes get mange and other skin conditions that cause them to lose their fur. It may also be possible that some Texas coyotes are developing really thin coats as an adaptation to an environment heavily laden with ectoparasites.
It makes for nice headlines to claim that someone has a chupacabras in the freezer. However, I don’t think this animal is anything other than a coyote that has no fur.
Poor thing. It’s like that ‘monster’ that washed up on some lakeshore like last year that people were assuming all sorts of things about, an it turned out to just be a rotted, hairless raccoon.
