Watching Amazon Prime

The film is The Savage Wild, which is a pretty good little film about wolves and dogs in the Yukon.

She likes watching dogs and wolves on TV, but if I put on a film about lions, she leaves the room.

Miley does what the wild dogs do

Miley appeared on the trail camera. She is checking out some red fox urine, but she’s pretty much doing what a coyote would do.

Of course, you can tell from previous videos that she’s quite a bit larger than those coyotes!

You can also see that she’s moving pretty well. Her TTA looks to have been a success.

A rough-shooting retriever

Golden retrievers were a breed that was developed to be used.  In their native environment int he UK, they would be expected to run through thorny cover, up and down steep banks, dive into frigid lochs and rivers, and leap walls and fences to recover quarry.

And yes, they would be used on rabbits and hares as well as partridges, grouse, pheasants, and wildfowl.

This breed has, unfortunately, become a victim of fashion.

It’s very sad that I think many people would have trouble identifying the British rabbit retriever in the above photo as a golden. It must be a saluki!

Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA)

Miley had her Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA) surgery this week to correct her torn CCL (cranial cruciate ligament).

She came back looking like a drugged lion with a cone on her head.

She has eight weeks of recovery, including some physical therapy.

Miley’s been off the blog for some time now. She’s had this knee injury that has kept her from doing anything interesting all summer.

But in a few months, she should be back to normal.
