  My first dog was a little mixed breed named Honey. She was a ball fanatic, she had a little orange rubber ball with a bell in it and she would fetch it until she dropped. When my mother’s tomatoes got ripe, she would steal them but wouldn’t eat them. We’d find tomatoes with tooth punctures in them, but no bites taken out. I think Honey thought she’d lucked out and found a ball bush, then got confused when the balls were squishy.

My dogs love apples. They would be horrified to think that a dog went to all that work and then didn’t even enjoy the fruits (heh) of its labor.

We had a Maltese who would loved ripe strawberries. We had to fence her out of our strawberry patch.
