There are some absolute fools who come on this post on semi-regular basis with so-called “evidence” to prove me wrong. It’s quite entertaining what some people want to believe about chihuahuas.
They are no more fennec fox than they are gray alien.
But that’s what I, a self-proclaimed defender of orthodoxy, want you to believe.
It would probably get loads of prizes for having such a lovely big head, I’m sick of people posting photo’s of dogs like this on facebook and getting praise !

All I could say for the fennec derived chihuahua people is: Don’t be like the lady who couldn’t figure out how long it will take to drive 80 miles if you’re driving at 80 miles/hour.

What a horrid looking little beast! Is that picture from luxpup.ca? (apparently, importing deformed/teacup South Korean puppies is a “thing” now).
If people want a pocket pet, why not just get a hamster? It reminds me of those creepy “big eye” pictures from the ’70s.

I have to say, if I saw one of those moving around on the floor, I’d be out of the room like a shot before my brain even managed to tell me what it was.

It is not going to live long, That’s the awful part. Some dummy with 6k buys that little critter and it will die before, or at, maturity. All those teacups do.
This puppy looks hydrocephalic — it needs a shunt for that excess fluid so badly. It’s heartbreaking

I think it’s related to the dumbo octopus.
Dumbo octopus are cool. Teacup dogs are not. The bones can be shrunk fairly quickly, but the brain and eyes stay the same size. I wonder if they suffer from doberman brain disease where they eventually go crazy from the excess pressure on their brains. Maybe that’s why Chihuahuas can be so nasty as they age?
That one probably doesnt have any brain left. the fluid in the centre of the brain expands and squashes the brain against the skull.
Dogs who do get to adulthood suffer more and more brain damage as time passes so yes the nast temperment could be down to that.
They also get photosensitivity so you see a lot of the round headed breeds are always squinting. & they dont eat properly as the appetite part of their brain gets damaged.
