Lost the comment from my iPad,so will try again. I used to keep bees in my far away twenties, experimenting with various races until sadly one winter they. Died out and were not replaced.
It would be harder to keep bees today with all those diseases and varroa mite.
Australia keeps us going but this lifeline is vulnerable.
Three cheers for bumblebees but some of those are in danger.
Re the swallowtail photos, in England we have gained our second subspecies in the shape of the continental swallowtail to add to our English swallowtail which is smaller darker yellow and more food specific than the continental one. But the newcomer is breeding here now which is welcome.
